(3) The processed door frame components are joined using wedges, then aged, fitted with tenons, and finally assembled into a complete door frame. The core wood used in this solid-wood door frame made from engineered wood has smaller dimensions and benefits from the advantages of engineered wood: fewer wood defects, more uniform moisture content, and effectively preventing common issues such as cracking, warping, and deformation that often occur in solid-wood door frames when exposed to changes in ambient temperature and humidity. Furthermore, since the outer surface of the core material is veneered with decorative veneers of precious wood species, 3–5 mm thick, the original texture and color of the wood are well preserved. If the decorative veneers are carefully and rigorously selected before application, the overall aesthetic appearance of the door frame becomes even more beautiful and harmonious, virtually indistinguishable from that of a solid-wood door frame. All decorative veneer applications on the door frame must be carried out using hot-pressing and panel-joining equipment to ensure strong adhesion between the veneer and the core material, tight joint seams, and excellent overall structural integrity.
Another production process for solid wood door frames made from engineered wood involves using offcuts from medium-density fiberboard (MDF) panels—typically those used for door leaves—to veneer thinner decorative veneers or plywood strips, which can further reduce material costs. Since plywood tends to develop surface cracks during secondary hot pressing, it is generally preferred to use MDF boards measuring 2.5 mm or 3 mm, overlaid with decorative veneers that are 0.3 to 0.7 mm thick.
